RICS UK Commercial Market Survey, Q1 2013

Director Tom Holloway and Associate Director Craig Powell of Holloway Iliffe & Mitchell have been quoted in the latest issue of the RICS UK Commercial Market Survey (Q1 2013). This publication is widely read by commercial property investors and occupiers looking to gain an insight into the regional views of RICS Commercial Property Chartered Surveyors in their local region.

Tom Holloway, Holloway Iliffe & Mitchell (Portsmouth) said:

“The increasingly poor performance of the regions office market is starting to play into the hands of cash rich owner occupiers. Generally, buildings that are largely vacant are no longer considered by investors unless there is a residential development angle.”

Craig Powell BSc (Hons) MRICS, Holloway Iliffe & Mitchell (Southampton) commented:

“With retail and industrial sectors both showing little signs of growth, one area that it rapidly changing is the number of big retailers racing to open new distribution centres that can cope with the multichannel requirements of modern retailing which includes purchases via mobile, online, instore ordering and traditional shop deliveries. In Southampton, Lidl has consent for a 414,000 sq ft regional distribution centre (RDC) on the M271 creating 400 jobs.”
